Probate is the court process through which a deceased person’s estate is administered and distributed. There may or may not be a will by the deceased person. If the deceased person’s property is minimal or very carefully provided for by will that is not contested or trust, then an informal and lest costly probate process is possible. If there is no will, the will is contested, or the will or trust is not clear, then a formal (more costly) court probate is necessary to administer and distribute the estate.
